Abstract
The redistribution behavior of insoluble particles during solidification was discussed in this article through mathematical modeling. In the presented model, the interaction of particles and solidifying interface were calculated based on the functions of relevant material parameters and processing variables. Particularly, the effect of thermal gradient on the interface force acting on particles was examined. Based on the analysis of the forces acting on a particle ahead of an advancing solid/liquid interface, an analytical model involving the temperature field was derived to demonstrate the complex redistribution behavior of particles during solidification of matrix.
