Abstract
Superior magnetic properties of Sm-Co based magnets, especially their excellent high temperature stability and low temperature coefficient, have led to an exciting variety of applications. Despite the commercial success of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets, Sm-Co magnets continue to play a dominant role in some critical applications, such as traveling wave tubes (TWT) for space exploration and satellite communication; inertial devices for accelerometers and gyroscopes; power tools for medical applications; and permanent magnet motors and generators for aircraft engines. We will review the recent development in ultra-high temperature magnets and zero RTC (reversible temperature coefficient) magnets.
