Abstract
The annual APMI/MPIF Conference tends to shunt hardmetals and refractory metals into what might be termed a “technical backwater.” As a result, representation of these materials in the main conference seldom matches economic importance. Ken Brookes, consulting editor, has nevertheless found some interesting papers selected from those presented at Hollywood, Florida, in 2010, each dealing in a different way with the essential hardmetal binder.
