Abstract
Mesoporous CeO2 with high specific surface area was synthesized using a modified evaporation-induced self-assembly (EISA) method, and a series of different amounts of Ag were loaded to this mesoporous CeO2 by a modified ethylene glycol reduction route. The samples were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy–dispersive spectrometry (EDS), nitrogen adsorption-desorption, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) and Barrett–Joyner–Halenda (BJH) methods. The mesoporous CeO2 structure with different proportions of silver nanoparticles and its antibacterial activity were adequately studied, confirming that obtained novel materials show a good antibacterial effect.
