Abstract
The present paper elucidate the structural, electrical and magnetic properties of pure and 5% Mg doped CuAlO2 (CuAl1−xMgxO2: x=0.0, 0.05) nanoparticles synthesized by auto combustion method using citric acid as a chelating agent. The structural properties were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Crystallite size was determined by Debye Scherrer Formula and was found to increase with the increase in Mg content. The existence of ferromagnetism at room temperature is shown by well-defined hysteresis loops. Magnetic measurement reveals the increase in magnetization with the increase in Mg concentration. The temperature dependency of electrical conductivity in the frequency range of 75 kHz-4.5 MHz shows the enhancement in the electrical conductivity of the Mg doped CuAlO2.
