Abstract
The α-titanium alloy was treated through ultrasonic surface rolling process at room temperature. Nanocrystalline was obtained in specimen surface. It is newly discovered that a fixed crystal orientation of (120) exists between nanocrystalline zone and matrix zone. The nano-enhancing mechanism of ultrasonic surface rolling process can be explained by the change of twins and crystal orientation. The compress twinning {10â12}ãâ1011ã of α-titanium dominates the deformation during rolling and impacting.
