Abstract
Nanocrystalline gold artichokes were synthesized via a facile solution method. Gold artichoke photoanode exhibited monolayered and multilayered photocatalytic water splitting performances. An overall water splitting photocurrent density of ~0.53 mA/cm2 at 1.23 V vs RHE with an incident photon to current conversion efficiency of 1.32% was obtained under UV light (~360 nm) irradiation. This novel Au-artichoke structure is a promising photocatalyst beyond environmental remediation.
