Abstract

•AgInZnS hollow nanoparticles were prepared by a facile solution method.•The size of the as-prepared AgInZnS hollow nanoparticles was between 20–30 nm.•The probably mechanism for forming hollow structure was studied.•The AgInZnS hollow nanoparticles demonstrated strong red photoluminescence.

AgInZnS hollow nanoparticles were synthesized by a facile method. Structures and optical properties of the obtained nanoparticles were investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns showed the obtained nanoparticles have a hexagonal crystal structure. It was found that their photoluminescence spectrum exhibited a strong red emission.
