highlights•Crystallization of salts in the presence of NCC results in dendritic growth.•The dendritic crystals obtained with NCC as an additive are pure inorganic salts.•The research provides new insight into the control of the materials morphology.
Crystallization of inorganic salts (NaCl, CuSO4·5H2O, and NiSO4·6H2O) in the presence of nanocrystalline cellulose results in dendritic growth. The dendritic crystals obtained with nanocrystalline cellulose as an additive are pure inorganic salts.
