Abstract
•DNA template.•Photochemical metallization.•Gold nanoring.•DNA compaction.
Well-dispersed uniform gold nanorings of 100 nm size were fabricated by slow photochemical reduction of aqueous gold(III) on compacted DNA of toroidal morphology, along with deposition of a thin gold layer on DNA condensates. The outer and inner diameters of nanorings were 105±17 nm and 26±14 nm, respectively.
