Abstract

•One dimensional InP nanostructures, including nanoneedles and nanotubes, have been synthesized by a facile solvothermal route.•The morphology and microstructure of the products are thoroughly characterized.•The possible growth mechanisms are briefly discussed.

Indium phosphide (InP) nanoneedles and nanotubes have been successfully synthesized by a solvothermal route. The detail morphology and crystalline structures of the products have been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The possible growth mechanisms of InP nanoneedles and nanotubes are briefly discussed. The present InP nanoneedles and nanotubes may have important applications in advanced nanodevices.
