Abstract

•Co3O4 mesoporous nanosheets have been synthesized by a facile method.•The morphology and microstructure of the products are thoroughly characterized.•Co3O4 mesoporous nanosheets delivered reasonable electrochemical performance.•The good electrochemical performance can be attributed to the special structural nature.

Co3O4 mesoporous nanosheets (MNSs) were successfully synthesized by a facile direct precipitation method and subsequent annealing process. When used as the anode materials of Li-ion batteries, the as-prepared sample delivered reasonable capacity, good cycling stability and rate capability, which may be attributed to the mesoporous structural nature.
