•Silicate green phosphors were synthesized using core-shell as an activator.•Carbon sheet is used to achieve the high efficiency phosphor.•Silicate using our approach shows the high luminescence efficiency.•Our approach is presented as an alternative for synthesizing phosphor.
A novel method to enhance the (Ba2−xSrx)SiO4 phosphors used for white LEDs was developed by using Eu2O3@B2O3 core–shells as an activator. This phosphor using Eu2O3@B2O3 core–shell showed twice as emission intensity as phosphor doped with Eu2+ alone. The synthesized green-emitting phosphors using carbon sheet showed much better crystallization as well as higher emission intensity. The emission spectra showed a typically broad green emission band attributed to the 5d→4f transition of Eu2+ ions under excitation at 420 nm. This phosphor is expected to be suitable to a wide range of quickly growing applications, and could be a promising phosphor for white LEDs.
