•ZnWO4/graphene was prepared as a new Li-ion battery anode material by a sol–gel method.•A reversible charge capacity of 695.6 mAhg−1 can be obtained for ZnWO4/graphene•The obtained ZnWO4/graphene also showed excellent cycle stability.
ZnWO4/graphene anode materials were prepared by a sol–gel method. The structured features of these anode materials were analyzed by XRD, while their morphologies were characterized by TEM and SEM. The electrochemical performances of ZnWO4/graphene were investigated by galvanostatic charge/discharge measurements, cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS) tests. The results showed that the first cycles of the reversible specific capacity of ZnWO4/graphene composite materials may reach 695 mAhg−1 at 50 mAg−1. The performance tests of rate showed that ZnWO4/graphene is suitable for high-current charge and discharge.
