Abstract
Polycrystalline samples of pure and erbium and ytterbium-codoped yttrium borates have been obtained via solid-state reaction and characterized by X-ray diffraction. An appreciable Second Harmonic Generation (SHG) under pulsed excitation at 1064Â nm was observed in both compounds matrix. Doping enhances the observed second harmonic generation, which is compatible with a better profile matching refinement in a non-centrosymmetric space group.
