Abstract
A novel sandwich element without separate joining layers as bonding between core and fibre reinforced face sheets is proposed. The core consists of a syntactic foam on the basis of cellular glass granules. Because of the cellular composite core and the proposed manufacturing process single as well as double curved sandwich elements can be produced. Experimental investigations show the significantly improved properties of such sandwich elements and the novel core material.
