Abstract
A simple, fast, effective, and safe method for the synthesis of viologens and polyviologens has been reported by microwave irradiation. Furthermore, their preliminary electrochromic properties have also been investigated. The experimental results demonstrate that their electrochromic effects extremely depend on their chemical structures.
