Abstract
Thermophysical properties of BaY2O4 which has a potential to be a new candidate material for Thermal Barrier Coatings (TBCs) were studied. Polycrystalline bulk samples were prepared by solid state reactions followed by a spark plasma sintering (SPS). The sample density was 88% of the theoretical one. The elastic moduli, Debye temperature, and micro Vickers hardness were investigated at room temperature. The linear thermal expansion coefficient and thermal conductivity were investigated in the temperature range from 300 K to 1300 K.
