Abstract
Single-crystalline BaCO3 with different morphologies, such as peanut-like, ellipsoids-like, rod-like and dumbbell-like has been successfully synthesized by a simple PVP-assisted method. Reaction conditions, such as pH value, the ratio of EDTA/Ba2+ and the concentration of the Ba2+ ions are found to play important roles in determining the morphologies and growth process of the final products. X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED) and the infrared (IR) spectrum of the sample are used to characterize the obtained products.
