Abstract
A facile and environment-friendly sonochemical route to fabricate well-defined dentritic ZnO nanostructures in a room-temperature ionic liquid has been reported. The structure and morphology of the synthetic branch-shaped ZnO products were characterized by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The photoluminescence (PL) spectrum of the synthetic dentritic ZnO nanostructures exhibits a strong ultraviolet emission at 378 nm and a weak green emission at 532 nm respectively at room temperature. A plausible formation mechanism of dentritic ZnO nanostructures was discussed in detail.
