Abstract
Mesoporous anatase with spherical, rodlike and lamellar morphologies was synthesized by a modified sol–gel method using titanium tetrabutoxide (TBOT) as metal precursor. Polarization microscope (PLM) study indicates that final morphologies are similar to lytropic liquid crystalline structure formed during gelation, and the colloidal phase separation mechanism is used to explain the phenomenon.
