Abstract
Ultrafine polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)/tris(8-quinolinolato) aluminum (Alq3) hybrid fibers were prepared by electrospinning PVP/Alq3 solutions in solvent mixtures of ethanol / chloroform. Hybrid polymer fibers with smooth surface were obtained using the solutions in which Alq3's concentration was from 0.5 to 2.0 (wt.%) and the average diameter of the smallest PVP/Alq3 fibers was 481 nm. The fluorescence peak position of PVP/Alq3 fibers was the same as that of Alq3 in solutions. The morphology of fibers has been characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and fluorescence microscopy.
