The optical and vibrational properties in quasi-binary (GaSb)1−x(InAs)x crystals have been investigated using the pseudopotential scheme combined with the Harrison bond-orbital model. To the best of the author's knowledge, this is the first time such properties have been studied for such a quasi-binary crystals. The agreement between the numerical results and published experimental data, which are only available for binary parent compounds, is generally satisfactory. The studied properties are found to be generally different from those of the conventional quaternary alloys GaInAsSb. This may provide more diverse opportunities for improving the properties of the crystals and hence would improve the performances of devices fabricated on them.
