Abstract

Multilayer TiN/Ti coatings have been successfully fabricated on the surface of NiTi alloy by filtered cathodic arc ion plating technique in our present work. The depth profiles and the outmost surface chemical composition were determined by Auger electron spectroscopy (AES). The electrochemical properties were investigated by cyclic voltammograms. The results demonstrate that the coating consists of TiN/Ti multilayer with relatively wide transitional layer (Ti, N and O), and this coating can effectively improve the corrosion resistant property of NiTi alloy for the application of cardiac occluders.
