Abstract
► Co-implantations of Cr+ and N2+ ions on electroplated Ni substrates have been investigated for various N2+ energies. ► Hardness increases due to the formation of Me-N species formed on the Ni matrix. ► The increase of hardness reduced the coefficient of friction of the samples. ► The presence of Me-N species is detrimental for the chemical stability of the plates.
