In order to clarify the adhesion mechanisms of cold-gas sprayed aluminium on alumina coated samples were subjected to micro-structural characterisation with scanning electron microscopy (SEM), scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD).
