Abstract
Titanium coating was prepared by cold spraying. The acceleration behavior of Ti particle in cold spraying was investigated by numerical simulation. The microstructure and corrosion performance of cold sprayed Ti coating were examined. It is found that particle velocity increases when increasing both the accelerating gas pressure and temperature. The smaller particle yields a higher velocity. The experimental results show that a dense Ti coating could be formed with a porous surface layer. The as-sprayed Ti coating presents a more negative open circuit potential and larger corrosion current than that of TA2 (pure Ti metal) owing to its porous surface structure and high surface activity compared with TA2.
