Abstract
Thermophysical properties of yttria partially stabilized zirconia (8Y2O3–ZrO2) thermal barrier coatings manufactured implementing in situ laser remelting process (a hybrid process which combines laser remelting and thermal spraying) were characterized from ambient temperature to 1100 °C. Their properties were compared to conventional as-sprayed coatings. The evolution of the thermal properties as a function of the undergone laser treatments permits to select the suitable treatments improving the insulation function of thermal barrier coatings. The stability of the coating thermal properties during thermal cycles was also evaluated to guarantee the performances under service conditions.
