Abstract

A stable superhydrophobic PS surface was obtained by a simple method in atmosphere. The water contact angle and sliding angle of the superhydrophobic PS surface are 156 ± 1.9°and 2 ± 1.9°, respectively. Kept at temperatures between 5 °C and 40 °C in ambient atmosphere for 3 months, and any decrease in water contact angle was not observed. SEM shows that the surface structure is comprised of many uniform micro-spheres with the diameter range of 1–4 μm. A brief explanation to the formation of the special microstructure was put forward.
