Abstract

Tremendous improvements had been occurred in the hot-dip galvanization process in terms of performance and evaluation. In the present study a mixed metal oxides of Al2O3 and TiO2 were used to reinforce hot-dip zinc coating. High corrosion resistance and better physical characteristics of the coating were achieved as evidenced during analysis by different techniques. The extent of barrier protection of the coating was analyzed by means of layer wise electrochemical characterization of the coating. There was substantial barrier protection in the coating due to the reinforcement of the mixed metal oxides. The interior layers of the coating exhibited relatively higher barrier protection character.
