Abstract
Titania field electron cathodes made with solution precursor plasma spraying (SPS) were investigated. The emission characteristics were measured using a self-made installation. Microstructure analysis was carried out using scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Raman spectroscopy. The electron emission was found to decrease with increasing temperature of tested samples. This was explained in terms of the coating microstructure and, in particular, the phase content and change in dielectric properties of coating components.
