Abstract

The electromagnetic and micro-structural properties of nanocrystalline spinel ferrite MnxZn1 − xFe2O4 (x = 0.0–1.0) prepared by the novel route of combustion method were investigated. The microstructure and morphology were characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy, respectively. The magnetic properties were measured using vibrating sample magnetometer. The analysis indicates that the permittivity, saturated magnetization and coercivity increase as the content of manganese rises. Further, the analysis of complex impedance spectra by an equivalent circuit model was used to investigate the AC electrical conduction mechanism. The results show that as-synthesized Mn–Zn ferrites with low conductivity and good magnetic properties have excellent potential for applications in electromagnetic devices.
