Abstract
We have developed a transient pyrolysis model based on the modified mass transfer number determined from experiments on the steady-state burning rate of vertical PMMA slabs. It allowed satisfactory concordance with experiments on upward flame spread. A good agreement for the rate of spread was also observed for inclination angles below the critical angle.
