Abstract
By means of a focused ion beam apparatus slits about 90Â nm in width, 1500Â nm in length and with a pitch of 430Â nm were prepared on a gold film of 100Â nm in thickness. The diffraction and interference experiments carried out in a transmission electron microscope equipped with a field emission gun are an amazing and impressive demonstration of the wave behaviour of the electrons.
