Abstract
Enterprises are facing an increasing challenge in designing and manufacturing products that respond to the continuous changes of the customer's needs, follow the development of innovative technology and business paradigms. Consequently the engineering design departments are expected to design new products from both innovative principles and secure company knowledge. The paper aims at presenting a design method that mixes reusing knowledge, designing new components for innovative design and adapting techniques to configure and design the new solution. Technically it leans on axiomatic design principles and case-based reasoning techniques. The methodology was developed and implemented for specific industrial products: electric industrial warehouse trucks.
