Abstract
This work presents a study of the influence of collisional mixing on one of the essential physical parameters which describes ions slowing down in matter: mean projected range. For setting these parameters in equations we have used a linear Boltzman transport equation (the differential integral equation of Lindhard et al.). A theoretical framework describing atomic mixing processes based upon distorted density is described. Modelling of the mean projected range is obtained by postulating for various cases an analytical evolution of distorted density for an amorphous, monatomic target bombarded by a beam of normal ions at different high fluences of low-energy ions. The results are compared with existing experimental data and theory.
