Abstract
The recoilless fraction in FeSi, FeSi2, FeB and Fe2B has been determined using our recently developed dual absorber method [Mater. Lett. 54 (2002) 256]. A good correlation between the recoilless fraction values and the number and distances of Fe nearest-neighbors (NN) was obtained for iron borides only. These results tend to suggest that other factors, such as the strength of the chemical bond, may play a role in determining the values of the recoilless fraction.
► Mössbauer spectroscopy of iron silicides and borides. ► Recoilless fraction determination using the dual absorber method. ► Correlation with number and distances of iron nearest neighbors.
