Abstract
A 14 MeV high intensity cyclotron CYCIAE-14 dedicated to Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is under construction at China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE). Based on a set of basic technical requirements for the accelerator and its extracted beam, the cyclotron beam dynamics were studied and the results are presented. Static beam dynamics, beam motion inside the machine under imperfection conditions and beam behavior in the extraction process were also investigated. This work gives an in-depth view of the beam dynamics study, numerical simulation as well as the corresponding results and necessary analyses.
