Abstract
The evaluation of the damage generated in ceramic oxides exposed to radiations is a major challenge in many technological domains which cover electronic, space and nuclear industries. Thus there is a great need of data concerning the production and recovery of radiation damage in this type of materials. This work aims to present a short review of the main structural and chemical modifications recently observed in yttria-stabilized zirconia and magnesium aluminate spinel that are submitted to ion bombardment and thermal treatments.
