Abstract
The effect of electron irradiation on sulfanilamide (SA) and sulfadimethoxine (SDM) solutions has been studied at various irradiation doses and various original concentrations. Upon irradiation at 8 kGy, the concentration of 110 mg/kg SDM decreased by 94%, while 130 mg/kg SA decreased by 99.2%. When exposed to the same dose, The radiolytic products were identified by ultra performance liquid chromatography electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-ESI-MS/MS) and the oxidation pathways were proposed.
