Abstract
The radiation characteristics of relativistic electrons, traversing stacks as 1D-layered media, have been found by a new, semi-numerical method. The analytical part of an algorithm based on Maxwell equations was used as a basis for a numerical code. As the calculations show, all known kinds of radiation induced in stacks are properly accounted for. Special calculations were made for transition radiation in random stacks. No effect of a new type of radiation, resonant diffusive radiation (RDR), predicted recently by Gevorkian et al., is found. An analysis is given showing that this negative result is not unexpected.
