Abstract
A radiation shielding study against primary and secondary gas bremsstrahlung is carried out for the existing transverse wall at the Canadian Light Source (CLS). A Monte Carlo method for mapping the radiation dose behind the transverse wall is developed. Two shielding methods are studied: (1) local shielding and (2) a lead wall, to bring the radiation level below the regulation limit. Also discussed are the lead beam stops used for an insertion device (ID) and a bending magnet (BM) beamline since there exists a considerable difference in length of the straight section between the ID and BM beamlines.
