Abstract

In this study the transmission probability for Knudsen diffusion through a single chamber-throat pore is simulated by the test-particle Monte Carlo method. The effects of the ratios of the length to the throat radius and the chamber radius to the throat radius on transport properties are investigated. The mechanisms affecting the transmission probability are revealed and discussed in detail. It is found that the transmission probability strongly depends on the ratio of the length to the throat radius of a pore and the transmission probability remarkably decreases with increasing the ratio of the length to throat radius. However, the ratio of the chamber radius to the throat radius has little effect on the transmission probability.
