Polyaniline (PANI), a promising conjugated polymer, was synthesized using acetic acid (AA), dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid (DBSA) and hydrochloric acid (HCl). The influence of dopants on the solubility and conductivity behavior of PANI were investigated. Layered double hydroxide (LDH) was initially pillared by a common modifier, dodecylbenzenesulfonate (DBS) and further modified with PANI/DBSA using the solution adsorption method. Electron conduction integrated LDH was melt-mixed with maleic anhydride modified polyethylene (PE-g-MA) and individuals were characterized via XRD, conductivity, rheology, and FTIR.
► Layered double hydroxide organically modified by sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid ► Soluble polyaniline (PANI) was synthesized. ► PANI intercalated into LDH galleries. ► Good conductivity values for filler and nanocomposites were reached.
