Abstract
The high amount of manual work in industrial assembly requires special measures in terms of progress monitoring and human-machine interaction to integrate these workstations into a digital production environment. A new concept for an assembly assistance system enables the incorporation of progress monitoring, gesture control and worker support by using a budget image sensor with per-pixel depth information. The functionality and potential of the markerless, real-time capable system is evaluated with an experimental setup.
