Abstract
This paper discusses the effect of ubiquitous computing concepts, namely ubiquitous manufacturing, on manufacturing knowledge management, and details a single implementation of an assembly cell concept to support ubiquitous manufacturing paradigm. The manufacturing cell concept and possible effects of ubiquitous manufacturing are further discussed to form some requirements for manufacturing and product data management for enabling such functionality.
