Abstract

A model of the interaction between electromagnetic radiation and orthogonal representative elements of highly porous thermal protection fibrous materials and nonmetallic reticulate materials is developed. The model based on Mie theory and its consequences allows one to calculate the important optical characteristics of the materials, such as spectral coefficients of absorption and scattering, spectral and spectral-transport coefficients of radiation diffusion, the phase scattering function, and radiation thermal conductivity.
