Abstract
A new approach for modeling the equations that govern the motion of a projectile in a uniform gravitational field is presented. In this study, the fractional derivatives and quadratic-drag term are introduced to make the model more realistic. The formulated mathematical model is non-linear coupled fractional-order system where fractional derivatives are in Caputo sense. These equations are analytically solved by using the recently modified fractional differential transform method. The results obtained from a numerical case study are compared to those of the corresponding integer-order model.
