Abstract
Laser-flash photolysis was performed to explore the primary micromechanism of pyrogallol's oxidation by TiO2 photocatalysis. Time-resolved transient transmission measurements indicated that the initial photocatalytic reaction mechanism for pyrogallol is the generation of photoexcited electrons–holes, with the holes, instead of OH radicals, oxidizing pyrogallol into pyrogallol cations.
