Abstract
Simulation accuracy is greatly influenced by grid quality. Here, mesh quality indicates orthogonality of grid lines at the boundaries and quasi-orthogonality within critical regions, smoothness, solution adaptive behaviour and bounded aspect ratios. A simple, effective and computationally efficient approach for adapting quadrilateral grids to a given adaptive functional is presented. Several numerical examples are explored for supporting our claim.
